dalit women’s accountability initiative

From January 2010 to June 2012, Gender at Work carried out this initiative with funding from the UN Fund for Gender Equality. This two-year project was implemented in Uttar Pradesh with the aim of increasing Dalit women’s access and participation in the right to work programme, MGNREGA.  8,000 Dalit women  were reached through awareness raising activities. Dalit women’s representation increased by 400% in all eight districts of the programme. Please read more about the programme in chapter 3 of our book Gender at Work: Theory and Practice for 21st Century Organizations. Read program overview or the full evalution of the program here.
